Our mission
Kids Care is an all-volunteer organization that has been
providing low-cost childcare to the Iowa City community
since
the 1970s.
We offer children a semi-structured environment
with
an
emphasis
on the development of socialization skills.
Part of our mission is to help the members by providing a peer
support group for those who might not otherwise meet parents of
similar backgrounds and similar aged children. And most of all
we offer parents an opportunity to have a childfree block of
time to meet their personal needs.
Our Finances
Since the playgroup's main mission was to offer affordable
childcare to families who cannot afford otherwise, we rely on
our minimal membership dues ($10 to $16 a month per child) and a
couple of fundraising events as our single financial source.
After fulfilling all the group’s financial needs from monthly
rent to regular expenses, we struggle every year to collect the
required money to pay the organization's insurance bill (due in
April). It also leaves us with a very modest amount of funds to
update our equipment.
Donations
The playgroup accepts any type of donations, like toys,
furniture, clothes etc. Such items could be dropped off at our
playgroup or taken directly to our
Kids Care Cooperative Stuff Etc. account in Coralville,
Iowa.

Checks would be written to Kids Care Cooperative and sent
to it's address: 320 East College Street, Iowa City, Iowa 52240.
